Michael Crist has 17 years of strength and conditioning experience at the high school and collegiate level. He is currently the head football coach and strength and conditioning coordinator at Virginia High School in Bristol, Va. at Virginia High, a school of 650, Crist designs and implements year round training for over 130 student-athletes from all sports on a daily basis.
Prior to coming to Virginia High, Crist was an assistant football coach and strength and conditioning coordinator at Amherst Co. High School in Amherst, Va. The Lancers made two football state final and three region final appearances in his five years at Amherst. At Amherst, Crist coordinated a strength program for over 200 student-athletes. Additionally, Crist founded an annual Strength & Conditioning Coaches Clinic that featured the top high school strength coaches from Virginia and top collegiate strength coaches from the ACC and CAA.
Crist worked on the Va. Tech strength and conditioning staff during two stints under legendary Coach Mike Gentry, one as a student-assistant and later as a graduate assistant for Olympic Sports, Football, and Men’s Basketball. While finishing as a graduate assistant Crist also volunteered as an intern with the Jacksonville Jaguars strength staff during training camp. Crist has also directed strength programs at Blacksburg High School, Brookville High School, and Warren Co. High School. Crist has held a CSCS and a USAW Club Coach certification.
